Sofia Camacho is a Mexican choreographer, performer and teacher born in Guadalajara, Jalisco and based in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. She trained in classical dance at Ballet de Cámara de Jalisco, Escena 3 and Joffrey Ballet School. She has worked professionally as a dancer in the company Ballet de Jalisco under the direction of Dariusz Blajer, Coastal City Ballet in Canada under the direction of L Yaming and currently, as an independent artist.
Founder and Artistic Director of Colectivo Faze, a young company and high performance training and creation program conceived on her own initiative. Her first full-length work ''Kshama'' was selected to be presented at the International Dance Festival (FID). Her choreographic pieces ''Abilis'' and ''Spharia'' were awarded as best choreography at the Ballet Festival Guadalajara.
She has worked in choreographic productions for different professional dance companies such as Ballet de Jalisco, premiering two pieces at the Teatro Degollado, within the framework of the International Festival Lila Lopez; Ballets de San Juan (Puerto Rico) presenting two pieces in their choreographic laboratory gala at Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico; and Armonium Dance. She has also performed in productions, residencies and master classes with different schools of classical and contemporary dance nationally and internationally. Her stage creations have participated in different dance festivals and galas such as Lila Lopez, YGP Mexico, Festival Internacional de Danza (FID), Circuito Cervantino among others. She is currently an independent choreographer.
